  Thou shalt not kill. -Exodus 20:13 Good morning and TGIF! A hard truth for some is that the Lord stated expressively “thou shall not kill”. That is a hard truth as many want to apply it situationally. The original Hebrew word used    in the Ten Commandments was “ratzach”, which means murder or unjust killing.  In the same manner that Jesus who did not address abortion specifically, He didn’t change the 10 Commandments nor did He contradict this scripture here.  And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. -Leviticus 18:21 It speaks of the practices of the nations around Israel, practices that they had adopted.  I want you also to note that the method of death for the innocent children involved fire. Some will claim Jesus never addressed the topic which is just not true.  Did He say expressively man should not marry man, no but His not doing away with the Old Testament meaning the Old Testament says man shall not lie with man as with woman…  That says it all. Genesis 3 Good morning and happy hump day to you!    Many times I’ve heard people disclose in their discourse the phrase “Jesus didn’t say”, using it in a way to justify their stance on an issue. I’ve used that same phrasing and as I grow on this walk of faith I’ve found how treacherous a slope it can be.  Unless you state what the Lord did say, I’d avoid the phrase. The enemy used the same type of discourse to steal our authority from Adam and Eve. In the scripture above the comparison of “what God said versus what God didn’t say has caused the calamity of the ages and even sent Christ to the cross.  So when faced with such phrasing one would do well to discover what Christ did say because what He did say always without fail deals with what was not said.  G...

Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. -Ecclesiastes 11:1 Good morning and tremendous Tuesday to you! For years I’ve not noticed this scripture. Though I’ve known it, I’ve never really associated it with the Godly attribute of having a charitable heart. Not withstanding the incentive of the scripture below:  He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. -Proverbs 19:17 But as this walk goes, it came rushing to me while meditating. The casting of the bread means giving to others liberally and the place of giving being “water”, wow!  Water is known for charting its own path and moves in an almost unpredictable way. What is thrown in the water doesn’t often return to the spot it was thrown from.  So to be told cast your bread (substance) on the water (no guarantee of return) speaks of having faith. In a true case an atheist brought a lawsuit against a school for allowing and encouraging their students to pray.  The Judge dismissed the case citing by chapter and verse the scripture above but purposely he didn’t recite the words. The attorney for the plaintiff not knowing what to think found a Bible for his client and read the scripture.  As I re-read the scripture above for the millionth time I notice how in errant and purposed arrogance atheist act in defiance to the Lord.  In their heart they hope that there is no accountability for their deeds. The last part of the Lord’s Prayer is called a doxology. A doxology is a summation of all that came before it.  A doxology doesn’t have to be a long paragraph or even a sentence. The shortest doxology is the last word in the Bible; Amen.  A doxology is important because it never comes without a personal conviction, an encounter that changes your life. During His prayer the Lord reminds us of the power of forgiveness. Many times we ask for forgiveness but are unwilling to forgive.  How often do we see a prayer or request for a prayer as one post on social media followed immediately by a torrid release of profanity by the same poster?   Give us day by day our daily bread. -Luke 11:3 Good morning and tremendous Tuesday to you! As the Lord continued teaching, He touched on provision.  To me this points to the boldness of Paul in Phil 4:19, “My God shall supply…” The nexus of this part of the prayer is by faith we should place our cares on Him and in expectancy serve Him (Matt 6:3)first and believe that the seed we planted and even seed we didn’t plant shall come up.  The provision is not limited to the given day but every day and faith brings forth the blessing.  God bless you and command your day!!! Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. -Luke 11:2 Good morning and happy Monday to you! The most prolific and foundational prayer ever begins here in Luke 11. The disciples had been observing the Lord Jesus praying and after He completed they asked Him to be taught to pray.  I’ve seen praying folks who seem to know how to get a breakthrough and they being merely mortal, how much more impactful it is to see God the Son praying.  In His prayer are all the elements needed to breakthrough. Humility, humanity, faith, goals and love.  Further the Lord knowing the current state of the world is/was not kingdom, but fallen, He hasten the Lord to manifest the Kingdom on earth in similitude to heaven.  These words set the course for the direction of the premier prayer and for those who feel they do not know how to pray, pray this prayer and it will touc...

  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. -Psalms 91:11 Good morning and TGIF! The scripture above has always been such a great comfort to me personally.  In times of trouble, danger, despair or need I hasten to it for the assured comfort promised by the Lord. It has a way of providing comfort during the storms of life we all face.  God the Father literally places an Angel on assignment to help us. They comfort, protect, bring messages, and more.  The only caveat is that He obligates Himself within a relationship, so your ways must show relationship. The scripture above comes from the story of the Lord healing two blind men. The men began following Him having heard I am sure through the murmuring of the crowd the He walked among them.  The two pillars needed to support the receipt of a blessing are demonstrated by the men. Hearing (listening/harking) and belief.  They heard and then they acted based on their belief. In this scripture Jesus is speaking to what He called hypocrites. Ones who feigned a relationship in the public eye but didn’t really strive in all the tenets such as prayer, praying, fasting, serving.  In this statement the Lord is in no way denying His omniscience but instead is calling your works iniquitous or strange fire. Contrary to what many may believe, the enemy can not read your mind. He is a good predictor of human behavior and knows generationally what has caused family members to falter.  Take note the scripture above attributes this only to the Lord and every scripture before that tells us how well He knows us.  But once again the enemy can not read your mind, what he can read is body language, he can remember habits, he can predict with some interference our behavior.  Knowing this, it is no wonder we are told in all things give thanks (1 Thess 5:18) we are told also to joy in tribulations (Rms 5:3).  A songwriter said it this way “Praise confuses the enemy”. Imagine if it were you and the Lord pointed toward some fish and asked you if your love was greater for them than for Him? In the same manner when we say we love Him but do not do His will, the question calls us into accountability.  It was crushing for Apostle Peter as it would be for anyone who had their love questioned. Certainly the Lord Jesus knew the answer but it was the action of Peter that was in question.  This was within the 40 days that Christ spent on the earth after the resurrection.    Peter a fisherman by occupation returned to that which was before Christ and placed the same BEFORE Him.  Beloved how often have we being discouraged returned to that which though broken, was all we knew… The Lord...

  And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: -Luke 23:18 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. -Luke 23:23 Good morning and TGIF! The scripture above is a glimpse into the heart of evil.  The religious establishment in an effort to silence Jesus incited the people to shout and riot if needed to release an evil man, to literally choose Barabbas over Jesus.  Because what Jesus said and what He did didn’t agree with the lying hearts of the synagogue leaders, He, the truth was marked for death.  Some will shout down the truth and rather the truth die which doesn’t agree with sin so that the lie which does, can live.  But three days after lie celebrated what seemed like a battle won, Truth arose, returned and celebrated victory in the war of the ages, death was defeated!  Go fellowship this weekend, we all need it....

  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. -Isaiah 53:11 Good morning and terrific Thursday to you! Isaiah is such an amazing book. It has 66 Chapters whilst the Bible has 66 books, each chapter identifies Christ and His life, even to the point of identifying His suffering and victory.  Verse 11 is the scripture of God’s grace showing how in His suffering we are allowed justification by faith. The Lord’s soul travailed by going through the pain, the shame, the injustice suffering that justice was due to us.   Lastly as He called us joy and endured the cross we were allowed the privilege of accepting His grace. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. -John 13:14 Good morning and happy hump day to you!  The Lord Jesus in preparation for the cross continued to present examples to the disciples.   His example here was the washing of their feet. The symbolic example here is to walk with humility the walk of faith.  The task of washing feet is the most humble of task as open sandal type shoes only protect the bottom of the foot from hazards but not the debris of everyday travel.  The Lord had just come into Jerusalem so here were 12 pair of extremely dirty feet. And to elicit humility from His disciples He took on the task of washing their feet, something usually done by a servant.  After washing their feet He then explained the significance of the act and at the same time gave us an example.   Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. One phrase that pesters me as a grandparent from new parents is “I am not gonna be (or do) like my parents”.  This is the battle cry from young teens through early parenthood. One that is used to distinguish just how much better a parent they expect to be.  To better oneself is an admirably lofty goal.   He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. -Psalms 103:10 Good morning and happy Monday to you!  The Old Testament scripture Psalms 103:10 deals with us early on expressing that His grace does not gives us what we deserve.  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? -Romans 6:1 The New Testament scripture serves to warn us though grace has manifested itself in the form of Christ, do not mock God.
