If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. -John 13:14


Good morning and happy hump day to you! 

The Lord Jesus in preparation for the cross continued to present examples to the disciples.  


His example here was the washing of their feet. The symbolic example here is to walk with humility the walk of faith. 


The task of washing feet is the most humble of task as open sandal type shoes only protect the bottom of the foot from hazards but not the debris of everyday travel. 


The Lord had just come into Jerusalem so here were 12 pair of extremely dirty feet. And to elicit humility from His disciples He took on the task of washing their feet, something usually done by a servant. 


After washing their feet He then explained the significance of the act and at the same time gave us an example. Humility will help draw others to Christ.
