But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. -2 Peter 3:18
Good morning and tremendous Tuesday to you! After the confession of Christ comes growing in grace. The Apostle Peter was inspired to write out of what I’d call his personal testimony.
He was recognized for his fiery temper, which only subsided when he encountered the risen savior, teaching him the importance of temperance. This experience emphasized the significance of ongoing growth after initial salvation to transition from a convert to a disciple.
While recently meditating I heard salvation+modification=sanctification. That middle ground being modification, is your actions have to contribute to that needed change.
Salvation is the initial conversion whilst modification is the growth required to achieve discipleship, and disciples are soul winners.
So few get beyond just mere salvation, having been stuck between salvation and modification. The Lord is calling us deeper, modifying the way we walk, talk and interact.
