16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Luke 5
Good morning and God bless you on this pre-hump day (🤗). The scripture above is very recognizable in the second verse onward. We often hear people tout effective fire filled prayer, and it’s benefit to the righteous.
But what we miss is one of the most important tenet of being righteous is repenting of sin against others. The first verse tells us to own up to our infractions toward each other and this is shown as a pathway towards being righteous.
Then it continues saying that we also must pray for others. The healing it mentions is both physical and certainly emotional. There are so many more who are hurt without scars than we know.
Deep emotional hurt will cause us to pray amidst. Though it might take years and a saturation by the Lord for an emotional scar to heal, our prayer has to be “Lord don’t let past hurt impact my prayer.”
Finally in the first verse it says that “Ye may be healed”, Ye is plural and also singular. Let’s not forget that un-forgiveness is the cause of most chronic sicknesses. So we must forgive others for their sake and for our own.
