To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. -Proverbs 21:3
Good morning and God bless you.
It is a rainy Thursday here in Memphis, called the bluff city. Thank God it is a balmy 43 degrees.
There are far too many instances of injustice, prejudicial behavior and these often come from the highest seats of government.
As injustice is revealed a cry comes up from the uninformed saying “Why has God let this happen?” or even “Why has God done this?”
Beloved those statements though given in distress, would suggest that God is unjust.
This is contradicted strongly in the Bible as in it we know God is loving, merciful, patient, kind and just!
Along with the statements comes a call for change. What we fail to understand is that God has given it to us to be the change we want to see in the earth. His intent has always and will always be that mankind manage the affairs of this planet as good stewards should.
When man fails to be just and merciful, this is when the sacrifice takes place. The sacrifice often looks like this; young man who otherwise doesn’t have a criminal past, who was punished more based on his social status, ethnicity and other plights of the underprivileged is returned to society with a crippling record.
This record may be similar to the record held by his father and his father may have had the same cleared history before his first conviction.
So the injustice here is generational and the sacrifices are the people involved, the convicted, the victims (past, present and
future) and families involved.
The Lord loves justice and certainly it is our roles to uphold true justice that is vetted with humanity and recognition of crimes committed out of desperation versus pure evil intent.
