12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

                                                                                -Colossians 3

God bless you and great day (South Carolina-vernacular). I pray your day is going well and you are blessed in this season of thanks giving. I think everyone would agree that Christians are to be examples of the kindness and gentleness of the Lord. The question then becomes are we living up to that calling?

It is with a serious heart that kindness is nowhere near the place of God’s intent. Simple kindness would have prevented George Floyd from his demise; simple kindness would prevented the death of Harvey Milk and simple kindness would have stopped many atrocities against those who are different.  Though we may be able to prove that their difference is not in accordance with the word of God’ we are yet still called to be kind. We are in the church age whereas grace is the ruling principle.

Christ did not come to destroy the law, but to extend grace to those under the law. That grace is the kindness that could sway someone to really consider their wrong and not affording it will entrench and even create reprobated mindsets. Christ being the expressed image of God shows us that the greatest aspect of grace which is often overlooked is longsuffering. This is simple patience with others. Unkindness in all its manifestations can be traced to not being familiar with a person or a group of people’s ethnicity, culture, habits, religion, etc. From unkindness comes the determination to destroy anything or anyone not like you, not your preference or “cup of tea.”

Verse 13 calls us into accountability to forgive; whether the discretion is actual or perceived, we are called to release others from the debt of an offense, because as we release them (Lord’s Prayer), we are also released from our debts to the Lord.

God Bless Command Your Day!!!
