23 1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
God bless you and good morning. God is good all the time…Each Tuesday morning at 5:30am we have prayer. Last Tuesday I was woke and pre-praying when a good friend from overseas sent me such an encouraging word that I couldn’t even go back to sleep. In this venue it would be impossible to summarize but in general it had to do with adhering to the plan of God for Christians. As a Christian there will be times of uncertainty, whereas everything that you want to do or even need to do works to not be done.
Today I want to look at verse 5 of the 23rd Psalms. Though preparest a table...The sad truth of things is we have enemies. Spiritual which we expect but also natural or flesh based enemies who dislike us just due to simple preference and further because they are not able to separate dislike from hate, they become our enemies. But through it all we must love them. God knows that those who love Christ and obey Christ will generate enemies quicker than two rabbits can become 102. But there are certainly times these controversy puts the focus on Christ and not the trouble before our table.
Our enemies do not want to see us alive much less to thrive while alive. God knows their hearts and If I do say so, the more I am disliked, the more the blessing come my way, the more abundant the harvest and the meal courses increase. No I do not relish in the hate, but I mustn’t stop loving nor living in that particular valley. The 5th verse in its entirety deals with how God blesses the oppressed. A lady by the name of Leah could testify that the more she was oppressed, the more she conceived and her womb never ran barren.
Armed with this understanding we are to walk in love and not gloat, but pray for those that have allied themselves against us. Perhaps if God says the same, invite them to the table.
