And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. -Mark 1:44
Good morning and TGIF! While reading this account of Jesus’ healing ministry, I noticed that He instructed the man who was healed to first present himself to the High Priest and, at the beginning, to tell no one else.
At first, this may appear as though Jesus wanted to keep His ministry hidden. But looking more closely, the purpose becomes clear.
According to Mosaic law, a healed leper was required to go before the High Priest, who would officially declare him clean. Only after this declaration was he free to share his testimony openly.
In the same way, the Lord may sometimes direct you to show yourself first to those who need to see the evidence, while He prepares the hearts of others to receive your testimony later. Often, the most powerful witness is not what you immediately say, but what others observe in you and then share themselves.
Go fellowship this weekend, we all need it.
