I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. -Philippians 4:13
Good morning and tremendous Tuesday to you! The scripture above is familiar to many and often applied selectively—only when it aligns with personal convenience or satisfies the desires of the flesh.
But how can one genuinely uphold this scripture while disregarding the principle in Colossians 3:23: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”?
Far too often, we act based on what is comfortable or pleasing to us. If we like the “boss,” we work diligently and put in the necessary effort. However, when our personal preferences or feelings interfere, our work and attitude may falter.
Scripture offers clear guidance on the morality of work, harmonizing these principles. Winning others to Christ is challenging enough without reducing our efforts to vanity or superficial service.
When we allow personal biases or preferences to dictate how we approach our secular work, we only make it harder to fulfill our greater purpose. Instead, we must work with integrity, as though serving the Lord, regardless of who we report to.
