Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

        -Romans 1:32

Good morning and terrific Thursday to you!

The scripture above addresses those in the church who know the truth yet choose not to speak, affirm, or live by it (“Who knowing the judgment of God”).

Haven’t we all had family members living in serious sin? And of course, we love them deeply. Loving the sinner is crucial, but tolerating, excusing, or even supporting them in their sin is dangerous.

The phrase “but have pleasure in them” is not meant in terms of your direct participation but when you defend the sin.  This is why we must remain firm and unyielding when it comes to sin.

This is especially true for sins of the flesh. Many tend to soften the truth by saying “sin is sin,” which is accurate but overlooks the gravity of certain sins. Deliberate sins of the flesh, in particular, can be seen as outright defiance against God and for clarity sake certain sins were titled by God as an abomination.
