I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: -Deuteronomy 30:19
Good morning and happy Monday to you! In Moses’ farewell speech, which precedes the more known one later delivered by Joshua, he calls upon heaven, earth, and all present to bear witness to his words. He seeks their testimony, knowing that some may later deny the truth, claiming they were never informed of what is right or wrong, or that others might distort the truth to fit their own narrative.
Moses’ message is clear: you are being given a choice, and God’s hope is that you will choose what is right. Yes, you have the freedom to choose sin over salvation, death over life, and unrighteousness over righteousness.
However, with every choice comes a price, and the outcome depends on the nature of your decisions. If you plant seeds of wheat, you will harvest wheat. If you plant tare seeds, the tare crop will follow. Similarly, if you plant seeds of righteousness in the Lord, you will receive far more in return than what you initially sowed.
