For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? -Esther 4:14
Good morning and happy hump day to you!
The scripture above comes from the story of the impending genocide of the Jews at the hands of the Persian King. A hatred of Jews which was historically bound in the fiber of times well before Esther was born was at play here.
The close relative of Esther, Mordecai had ensured Esther never forgot her heritage and had put into her a sense of purpose. When he heard of the planned slaughter he brought to her mind the position she held and her possibly being placed as Queen for a time such as this…He used strong words.
Initially she refused to act but by faith he declared delivery would come another way. Esther could’ve easily been offended by what Mordecai said. I mean, how dare he approach her in such a way being as though she was the sitting queen of Persia.
But Esther came to realization that she was chosen and being chosen we must be very careful and not allow offense to prevent us from doing what we were chosen to do.
Imagine if Christ had been offended while on the way to the cross. Where would we be if He had not endured for us standing in our place. Though we can’t be Christ we can in similitude stand!
Christians we stand in the stead of Esther and we can either go with what we deem as the safety of going along the path of less resistance or we can stand up for what is right even at the risk of rejection.
