And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase. -1 Kings 13:24


Good morning and happy hump day to you! A true prophet is obedient which is their hallmark. The story above speaks of a young prophet who went off script. The Lord had given him specific instructions and had forbidden any deviation. 


Another prophet came alone, an older man who in perhaps his nosiness had the young man come back to his house to eat and refresh and talk. 


The scripture captures God being true to His word, disobedience is sin and the wages thereof are death. 


His wage was death. Note that the lion only killed him and did not devour his carcass and did not harm the mule. 


Beloved in this context we are warned to stay in our lanes and stay the course as given by the Lord. Hear and harken not allowing what He has specifically instructed to be altered or delayed by anyone.
