14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
-John 17
Good morning and happy hump day to you!
The scripture above is a part of what is called the High Priestly Prayer. In it the Lord Jesus is praying to the Father for Himself and for us.
We are the “them” whom the word is given to. Because we have, live, and share the word persecution is sure to come.
The less you are attached to the world the greater the persecution. But salt not stirred doesn’t flavor the ingredients.
The late Bishop Willie James Campbell while explaining what it means to be “in this world, but not of this world” said. Paraphrasing “A park bench and swings are placed in the park but they unlike trees and grass are not of the park.”
Our goal, our hearts desire and role in the great commission is to change the world by exuding the character the world should be.
God bless you and command your day!!!
