Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:1
Good morning and Happy Monday! Today is Memorial Day. Unknown or ignored by many, Memorial Day and Veterans Day have separate celebratory targets.
Veterans Day is for those who have served giving of their time and effort, whilst Memorial Day is for those who died in the service of the nation.
Unless something changes drastically I’ll never be rightfully celebrated on Memorial Day even after I’ve gone home unless as a direct result of my service my physical life ends.
No matter the heart of the celebrant who is memorialized in giving their life, I can assure you it was the result of the last choice; when all other alternatives have been examined and dismissed.
Jesus came to earth as the son of God being fully God but fully man and knowing the fate before Him was the cross and certain death.
A service member goes into war knowing that the possibility of death does exist, but not sure when or if death would be as a result of service.
When you consider that Jesus talked openly of His own death, the scripture above denotes the love it took to Willingly die for those who may never acknowledge and accept the ovation of love needed to reconcile us to God.
Certain death lay before Him, but not death as the world had known it but one that victory for us all became the reality.
As you go about this day know the greatest memorial we can celebrate had events that stretched about 33.5 years starting with a memorable pregnancy, involving no man, a pitifully equipped maternity ward having live stock as observants, a memorable life of service disrupting legalism, a death unlike others on the cross, being without sin and choosing when He gave up His life and finally the memorial of His resurrection!
God bless you and command your day!!!
