For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. -2 Chronicles 16:9

God bless you and welcome to Thursday. On yesterday the Lord began to speak to me on purpose and how purpose is connected to faith.

In that I began looking at a few scriptures about purpose, for instance:

Romans 8:28

Jeremiah 29:11

As I thought on how lack of faith impedes us the story of the fear that kept Israel in the desert came to mind. I then dug deeper and the rather obscure story of Asa and his dilemma came to memory.

It was not fear but an arrogance spirit and misplaced faith that had Asa in his predicament. But if you really think about it misplaced faith sounds like fear wearing one of its many masks.

David said some trust in chariots…but I will trust in the Lord. Asa trusted in Syria to come to his rescue.

Perhaps Syria would have been the instrument of protection for Israel but beloved never make the instrument more important than the musician.
