Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. -Psalms 37:7

God bless you and good morning. As I was preparing for Tuesday morning prayer I began reading Psalms 37. I’ve always found great comfort and encouragement in the words of this chapter.

As a young man I almost completely derailed my life. I saw what others had through guile, deceit, and criminal mischief and compared my meager belongings and felt cheated.

I got involved in some things that I am not proud of and was certainly heading down the wrong path. At that time I considered the ill gotten gain of the devices worth more than the destroyed lives of those who suffered for the devices success.

It was a single encounter with a righteous man that caused me to re-evaluate my life. The encounter allowed me to view two futures instantly.

In the first scenario, I literally saw myself imprisoned serving a long sentence with all potential wasted and in the second one I saw success.

I had over the years seen so much and endured so much that I found myself hardened, or so I thought to the suffering of others.

But as I stood there hearing this older young man, I was spiritually removed from his presence while still hearing his voice, I saw past victims and future victims and the lives I could impact for the better.

Beloved do not allow yourself to be swayed by the gain of those devices. Please rest assured that the gain isn’t true, but the loss is.
