He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. -Psalms 91:1
God bless you and happy hump day!
On an episode of the Andy Griffith show a stranger moved to town and began speaking to the people of Mayberry by their names, all before being introduced.
Even more disheartening was he knew personal things about each of them and freely discussed their lives as a close friend would.
Eventually having run awry of the good folks Andy got involved and got to the bottom of the story.
It seems the guy had read about Mayberry in the big city, had fallen in love with the town and the details of the lives of its citizens were freely printed in the paper daily.
When he moved there he felt as if he knew everybody intimately. He knew of them, but didn’t know them. The scripture above speaks of intimacy, with the important truth emphasized intimacy has the benefits afforded only to those we know and that know us.
(Not everyone you know should be invited to the mountaintop, ask Jesus.)
Knowing of someone is not the same as knowing them. Many say they know “the man upstairs”, but to refer to the Lord in such a way denotes, you have heard of, and about but do not know Him.
To know God you must desire to get into that secret place and Holy Spirit is the gatekeeper.
