My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? -Psalms 22:1

God bless you and TGIF. Beloved the scripture found above is often misunderstood. Most thought or think it originated with Jesus on the cross and it is given as one of the final things He said on the cross of our making.

But it originated in the scripture above and on the cross as a prophecy fulfilled. Jesus told the disciples “if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me.”

This of course means His suffering and sacrifice borne out of love will draw willing hearts to the foot of the cross. And in Him being lifted up the sacrificial nature is glorified and it is shown that the sin of past, present and future is broken from the DNA of mankind.

So as Jesus spoke from the cross, He spoke of the prophecy of being the lamb of God and as the ultimate price; perfect willing, knowingly innocent blood being shed for us.

So did the Father abandon Jesus at the point of His greatest need? A resounding no is given here as the sin nature broke off men it wafered up to the broken, bloody and hideous body of our Lord.

The harshness of sin on the senses of God was shown as God showed His displeasure with sin and symbolically let’s us know God hates sin but not the sinner.

Let’s lift Him up today as the reason we have joy, peace, hope, love and abundance before all to hear, adhere and be saved.

Go to church this Sunday, the screen with the highest resolution and the best sound Bose or others can offer, doesn’t replace the smile and embrace of your brothers and sisters in Christ.
