Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
-Habakkuk 3:17-18
Good morning and God bless. Happy Monday! Another week and your grind is calling. God wants you to be encouraged as you are to walk by faith and not by sight.
The minor prophet Habakkuk described his own joy in essence saying nature is not the reason he has joy.
Nature is beautiful, whether you are a Summer, winter, spring or fall type of person. In your favorite season you will find most things beautiful and in your least favorite you will find something you do not like.
Seasons of course depict more than the sun shining, more than cloudy days, brisk air or stifling heat. There are seasons of life, relationships, jobs, understandings, misunderstandings, and more.
So that being how life is on this side of the Jordan we must be protective of our joy and reverence it as not superficial but as a tangible asset.
Many people are happiest during the season leading up to Christmas and as many are their saddest. Both of those emotional flows are fed by events that have occurred in the life of the beholder.
But as a Christian we must strive to not allow our joy to be dictated by every life event that happens, the danger in this is we can become unsettled, unstable, searching for truth obviously before us, looking for ear pleasing which is unsound doctrine.
Those type are easy prey and will be picked off as they separate from the flock and shepherd.
Be as the Prophet here who says my joy is deeper than life events can reach!
