For we walk by faith, not by sight:
-2 Corinthians 5:7
Good morning and God Bless you. Imagine, it is Friday in the year ‘1 in Jerusalem and you are a tourist passing by a hillside. Your tour guide points out the upcoming hill called Golgotha, making note that today a Roman execution is taking place.
He then explains the method of execution and that this is a multiple one and particularly bloody as one man had been beaten senseless.
If you walked by this scene, your mind would surely write off those being executed, not needing anyone to testify of the gruesomeness or brutality because you saw it first hand. But as the redeemed of Christ you can’t believe everything presented by your natural eyes, because we walk by faith.
Why is walking by faith important? One reason is because this world is a perpetual train wreck calling for our attention. The enemy wants you to look at him and not unto God.
Having seen such a sight you feel too weary to travel and decide to go back and stay in Jerusalem for a few days. The first day was uneventful, though you can’t get the eyes of the middle most man out of your mind, you manage to sleep.
Then the following morning, you hear a ruckus as soldiers and temple guards rush around and the whispers are ferocious. Not hearing clearly you ear hustle and hear that the middle man, you know the one, beaten, stabbed, tortured, was not in the tomb, the tomb guarded by soldiers...
This is when you saddle your camel and head out of town. Your hope would be you never hear of this place, it’s people and oh yeah this Jesus, can’t be too careful dealing with ghost and all.
