Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. -Psalms 1:1

B. nor standeth in the way of sinners,

Part B of the scripture is one that reveals the heart of the man. I have seen some who seem to take it to mean, “if they want to sin, I won’t get in their way”, literally choosing not to acknowledge known sin is not what that scripture is referring to. Having that approach is to be an enablers.

Standing in the way is speaking of not getting caught up with what someone steeped in sin is doing. In the book of Eze verse 22:30, The Lord expresses what it means to bridge the divide between Him and mankind and it depicts what Abraham did for Sodom, which is to stand in the gap.

There is no trick to this it is simply hard work and choosing to love which requires separating the sin from the sinner.

It saddens me that many stand in the way by not addressing sin to their love ones. Yes confrontation with a confrontational person is hard. Sometimes silence is complicity. Before that conversation consider would you rather see them perish?
