We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
               -Psalms 44:1

Good morning and God bless you. Can I say faithful? God is faithful! I was observing the differences in generational norms with a friend recently and noted that what each generation value is different based mostly on current needs.

Whereas my generation valued simpler things, our shoes sometimes were hand me downs or purchased at the Supermarket in the frozen food section (☺️).

Things such as my kids asking to ride city buses for the joy of it? I can recall many frost bitten days waiting for the bus.

We often value what we don't know. What we have have little exposure too and not knowing allows the bliss of ignorance. This is why it is so important to correctly share life experiences with our children.

In the book of Joshua chapter 24, he gives an overview of the history of Israel from Abram till their time. This culminates with verse 15 laying out a path, "as for me and my house".

When our children know how good God has been we can then freely and with confidence lay out the choice. The do as I say and not as I do approach is not as effective today as it was in the day.

When your children see you as perfect, the level you are at seems unattainable.  They're not knowing the stumbles, bumbles and falls on your way to adulthood puts them at a disadvantage.

This is why when you share your imperfections but also how God has kept you and brought you out, they have an anchor to hold onto.
