34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Matt 12
God bless and good morning. On social media this morning and saw some of the vile rhetoric spews from the fonts of those on my news feed.
And as I saw what they wrote my first instinct was how could they write things that they couldn’t be sure of, proven lies and to defend/justify their lies based on past hurts.
The hurts used to justify how they feel may have nothing to do with them or anyone even alive.
As I pondered more is when the Lord brought this scripture to mind. Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and He called them out.
As I have always read verse 34, I didn’t realize the Lord spoke of in follow on verses how what is in your heart good or bad will come forth from your mouth and even now from what you write, post, share.
Oh not to sugar coat truth, but to subvert and use what is hurtful is so far from godly.
I encourage you to do what Phil 4:8, think on that is put more thought into what is good and less into the bad. Don’t bury your head in the sand as a frighten Ostrich but don’t climb the highest sand dune as an unwise peacock.
